New Zealand and South Carolina have banned  CFL bulbs. They are aware that each CFL bulb that’s put in the trash will pollute 6,000 gallons of ground water. Our planet needs protection. Your neighbors, your friends, your penpals, your relatives. Do they know how to dispose of toxic CFL bulbs? Do they know to evacuate if one breaks? That they can’t put it in the recycling box or they put the garbage men at risk? PLEASE  educate yourself and others about these bulbs. They are considered Hazardous Waste when they break or burn out. Hundreds of millions of them are blanketing the planet. Without proper WORLD education, cooperation and treatment centers, what seems like innocuous litte bulbs could be the quickest way to find ourselves without water, equally, worldwide.

    – that would upset the applecart in North America, imagine the cross-border stock-up of the popular cheap ordinary bulbs!

Claudia; Nice Post. Thank you for keeping this up so I don’t have to (Jesting, my site went down with Vox; new one a-borning).
__A Dr. here said my proclaiming fluorescent lt. allergy, was akin to saying mercury poisoning is an allergy. Point taken, but oddly, I feel there is a merc. poisoning aspect to peoples’ various symptoms w/ fl. lt. exposures.
__Think about the ubiquitous streetlight that is never replaced until the tiny cracks have let in enough air for it to burn hotter, start to cycle faster & flicker and fail.
AIR CAME IN; WHAT WENT OUT?
__Mercury vapor (the yellow “sodium-vapor” ones are still merc. charged w/ sodium for color). ___And Merc poisoning is Cumulative! Walk around downtown, inhale, bit x bit you’re collecting it faster than a Tuna.
__The cheap cee eff ell’s fm Asia leak too. Inside your house.
